|Description|| New Directions breaks through the barriers and boundaries between ‘special’ and ‘mainstream’ services. With the correct support for each individual new directions encourages people with disabilities to play an active meaningful role in their own community.
The success of new directions is dependent on an individual’s community, all supports in the community are mobilised so that people with disabilities have the widest choice and options about how to live their lives and how to spend their time. New directions in Bridge Street, Cavan allow service users to feel positive about planning their daily lives within their own community in the Bridge Street Centre each day.
Programmes are developed to benefit service user’s individually: These programmes are underpinned by the principles of Person Centeredness, Community Inclusion and Active Citizenship and Quality.
New Directions Training Programmes for Inclusion in Ones Community include:
- Training in Travel
- Safety Awareness
- Social Skills
- Physical and Mental Health
- Workability (job club)
- Stress Management
