Person with a Migration Background

The term 'person with a migration background' is sometimes used in the field. It is preferred by some organisations and institutions which adopt it for its more sensitive nature. It reinforces the intention of not labeling and defining a person because of one of their characteristics.

Nonetheless, this term should be used carefully since it is broader than 'migrant'. It might be taken to have an overly remote meaning from its subject as everyone could be considered to have a migration background. When used, the term 'person with a migration background' should be clearly defined to avoid confusion because it does not have official definitions.
