Workfloor work
Our vision and design is reflected in the term "work floor work". We strive for an inclusive labour market and are convinced that getting opportunities to work in the open economy offers the best opportunities.
Supported Employment is internationally considered to be the best practice to guarantee the chances of success in that open economy.
It is a 5-step model that supports the clients before, during and after finding a job. The employer is also supported. The focus here is on the person’s capabilities rather than the limitations.
- Client engagement
- Career-oriented profiling
- Job finding
- Employer engagement
- Support in and outside the workplace
The client engagement is based on
- Respect
- Accessibility
- Flexibility
- Confidentiality
- Self-determination
- Informed Choices
- Empowerment
From FCE towards mixed reality in the job profiling
An FCE is an evaluation of capacities of activities that is used to make recommendations for work while considering the person’s body functions and structures, environmental factors and health status (63% agreement), Soer e.a. Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation 2008
Basic methodology: strength-oriented mediation
Four solution-oriented themes:
- Desire for change (What brings you here?)
- Concretization of the desired situation (Where do you aim to go?)
- Building further on the assets (What is already working?)
- Planning small steps forward (What is the next step?)
Motivation and efforts
- Autonomy
- Competence
- Relatedness
> Self Determination Theory
Project challenge
Virtual reality can give a client insight into a job and the competencies required for it. The challenge is to let the client experience whether his capacities are matchable by using reasonable adjustments. By using mixed reality, the client experiences that his capacities make the job feasible.
Expected impact
- Faster and objective capacity measurement, which allows job seekers to be guided in a more targeted manner
- Lowering the threshold to work, through a safe and immersive exploration of professions and possible adjustments.
- Shorter job placement trajectories, which accelerates the inflow to bottleneck professions
- Less dependence on internships, which makes placement more efficient and less time-consuming.
- Sustainable employment, through a better match between capacities and job requirements.
This approach shortens the duration of unemployment, lowers the threshold to work for vulnerable target groups and stimulates sustainable employment.
Project flow
- We unlock a number of job profiles by means of virtual reality
- By introducing physical, concentration tests and measuring these, we objectify the client's resilience
- If we know the client's resilience, we can make reasonable adjustments on the work floor and see what the return is
The results must allow:
- To have the rehabilitation process tailored
- To consult with the work floor about the possibilities of job design
Pilots and questions
- Job Fits test in care and construction
- In total 10 job profiles
- Test in 80 cases
